6 Ways to Maintain Your Wellness Journey in 2021
Take action on your wellness journey this year! Keep reading for a few of our favourite tips for maintaining your journey to whole health and wellness.
In 2020, many changes forced us to adapt and adjust how we took care of ourselves. Our routines were interrupted and new routines were formed. We learned to find new ways to get moving and stay active, new ways to connect with loved ones, and new ways to keep ourselves busy (or not so busy at all!).
What wellness practices did you learn in 2020 that you can bring with you in 2021? If last year taught us anything, it was how to take care of ourselves from our homes. Maybe you found a great online workout regime or a great meal service delivery system that delivered nutritious food right to your door.
To continue on your journey to whole health and wellness, what healthy habits and practices are you taking control of this year? Over the past year, we’ve learned that it’s important to take action on those things that we can control. Keep reading for a few tips on self-sufficient wellness practices that will help you feel your best this year.
Find ways to stay active at home
Workout routines that can be completed at home is the new normal! Have you found some that you continue to do? There are countless online videos available to stay active at home (including many free ones on YouTube!). Is there a certain type of exercise that you have always wanted to try? Now could be the time!
Keep your exercise routines fresh in 2021. Even getting outside for a quick walk is a great way to get some fresh air.

Stick with (or work toward developing) those healthy routines and habits
Perhaps you found a few new healthy habits that you have brought into 2021. That’s great! If you are looking to make a few changes, check out our blog on Forming Healthy Habits. Small changes can make BIG differences. Two great places to start are making sure you are drinking enough water and getting enough sleep!
Continue connecting with your loved ones in new ways
As we all become well-versed in virtual calls, continue to stay connected this year! As there are many unknowns for seeing our loved ones, use those platforms available to you to stay close to the people in your life.
A great way to catch up with friends and family is over dinner! Plan to eat dinner at the same time and hop on a call – it will feel like you are sitting down together for a meal.
Use your health benefits and programs that are available to you
Whether that is through your Group work benefits or with a Personal Health Plan – use those benefits! Book that massage or that physio appointment. You will be thanking yourself later! If you want to read more on a few Health Practitioners, check out our blog posts on Massage Therapy, Naturopathic Medicine, and Podiatry!
If your benefits are through your employer, you may have access to our Employee & Family Assistance Program (EFAP). The EFAP can connect you with counselors to help you with life changes, jumpstart your wellness journey, or even give you career advice. Talk to the benefits administrator at your employer for more information on how to get started.
Actively engage in your self-care activities
Is self-care one of those things you always want to do or intend to do, but maybe don’t get to? Take the challenge this year and schedule self-care activities into your routine every week! Whether they are big or small, having those activities to look forward to can help to make for a great week.
